Confucius Institute
The Confucius Institute at Baku State University is an Azerbaijan-China educational and research center. The Institute was established on April 22, 2011, with the support of the Hanban organization, which specializes in teaching Chinese abroad. The Confucius Institute operates under the leadership of Baku State University and Anhui University’s Board of Directors. The main goals of the Institute are to ensure quality teaching of the Chinese language, strengthen friendship and cooperation between universities, and expand educational, scientific, and cultural exchanges between Azerbaijan and China. The Confucius Institute regularly organizes cultural events to introduce Chinese history, culture, and traditions to young people, helping participants gain a broad understanding of traditional Chinese festivals and culture.
In October 2014, a digital linguaphone laboratory was launched at the Confucius Institute to enhance the level of Chinese language instruction at BSU. On January 25, 2021, an agreement between BSU and Anhui University was signed, further improving the activities of the Institute. The Institute now covers the following areas:
- Chinese language teaching programs and related research
- Language and cultural exchange activities
- Training and improvement courses for Chinese language teachers
- Enhancement of Chinese language educational resources
- Organization of accreditation tests in Chinese language and culture
- Chinese language courses (offered in 4 levels: 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, and 12-month courses)
- Speaking club
- Preparation for the Chinese Ministry of Education's State Chinese language exam (HSK)

Baku King Sejong İnstitute
The Baku King Sejong Institute was established on July 23, 2018, based on an agreement between the King Sejong Institute Foundation of the Republic of Korea and Baku State University. The King Sejong Institute was established by the South Korean government in 2005 and operates in over 50 countries worldwide. The main purpose of the Institute is to teach and promote the Korean language and culture, as well as to assist teachers in integrating into the education and information services. The King Sejong Institute was first established in the South Caucasus at Baku State University. Most of the staff at the Institute are Korean specialists, who also contribute to the teaching of Korean language and literature at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
The main activities of the Institute include:
- Korean language teaching programs and related research
- Promotion of Korean language and culture
- Enhancement of Korean language educational resources
