BSU Rector Speaks at International Forum "Kazakhstan – Territory of Academic Knowledge"

On October 31, 2025, the International Forum of Strategic Partners “Kazakhstan – Territory of Academic Knowledge” was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event was attended by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, representatives of government and academia, and leaders of leading universities from around the world. Rector of Baku State University (BSU) Elchin Babayev also took part in the forum.
Speaking at the plenary session, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in education, science, and the humanities. He highlighted BSU’s close partnerships with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Satpayev University, the Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the Caspian University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yesenov, and Atyrau State University. These collaborations have evolved from traditional academic exchanges to joint research clusters and dual degree programs.
Rector Babayev noted that BSU’s joint projects with Kazakhstani universities encompass renewable energy, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, environmental protection, and cultural heritage studies. He proposed creating new collaborative initiatives such as the Joint Academic Council, the Turkic World Research and Innovation Foundation, and the Young Scientists Network to strengthen the scientific bridge between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
The forum also featured speeches by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, President of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Nunzio Quacquarelli, President of Beijing Language and Culture University Peng Duan, President of Cardiff University Wendy Larner, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Woosong Educational Foundation Kim Sung-kyung, President of Minerva University Ben Nelson, Rector of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University Yerbol Isakayev, and other prominent representatives of international academia.
