The Baku State University Publishing House (BDU Publishing House) was established based on the "Baku University" publishing house and the BSU printing house by the decision of the BSU Scientific Council in 2023, 18.
The BSU Publishing House carries out the publication of university materials, including textbooks, teaching aids, scientific journals, conference materials, newspapers and magazines, monographs, as well as promotional and advertising print materials.
The publishing activity of BSU dates back to the university's founding. When the university was established in 1919, an editorial-publishing department was created. The journals "News" (published since 1921) and "Theoretical and Practical Medicine" (published since 1924) were the first scientific periodicals of BSU.
Although the activities of BSU Publishing were suspended multiple times due to objective and subjective reasons, the necessity of university publishing led to its restoration. To ensure the availability of textbooks and teaching materials for training highly qualified specialists in Azerbaijan, the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR issued a decree on January 24, 1984, establishing the "Baku University" publishing house based on the university’s editorial-publishing department.
After the restoration of Azerbaijan's state independence, the "Baku University" publishing house was restructured and its material and technical base was strengthened.
In 2019, the BSU printing house was modernized, and within the framework of a cooperation agreement between BSU and BP-Azerbaijan, the facility was equipped with state-of-the-art computers, digital printing, and polygraphic equipment. Both offset and digital printing technologies are used to produce publications with high design and printing quality.
Prioritizing speed and quality, the Publishing House ensures the timely and aesthetically refined production of its printed materials. At the same time, creative efforts are made to align publications with modern-day requirements. The latest innovations in the printing industry are incorporated into its operations, contributing to the enhancement of publication quality.
Currently, the Publishing House's printing facility operates with nearly 40 pieces of polygraphic equipment, enabling the execution of high-tech printing processes.
The computer department is equipped with the latest information technology and digital printing devices, where pre-printing processes, including design and layout work, are conducted.
The production department is furnished with modern printing equipment, making it a state-of-the-art facility that meets contemporary standards. High-quality printing is performed using offset, plotter, and digital printing technologies.
In the binding and packaging department, the use of new binding and packaging technologies ensures that books, journals, promotional materials, and advertising prints are bound and packaged with high quality.
