Sports and Health Center

The Sports and Wellness Center of Baku State University (BSU) was established in 2020, based on the university's Sports Club. The center's primary mission is to instill strong moral, willpower, and physical qualities, as well as national ethical values in students and staff. It aims to organize productive leisure activities, prepare individuals for labor and national defense, and support their development into healthy, well-rounded, and modern personalities.

A healthy lifestyle and sports play a significant role in training active and capable professionals. To support this, BSU provides all necessary conditions for students and staff to engage in regular sports activities, train systematically, and participate in competitions. The center has formed teams for various sports, including chess, volleyball, football, basketball, handball, badminton and other sports disciplines

These teams are trained by highly qualified coaches. BSU’s male and female student teams regularly practice and proudly represent the university in internal and national competitions.

During the 2019-2020 academic year, in September-October, BSU teams achieved remarkable results in tournaments like football, volleyball, badminton, and chess tournaments dedicated to the 100th anniversary of BSU, organized by the Yasamal District NAP Organization, BSU teams achieved high results. In National Chess Championship for Students (organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports) BSU team secured 3rd place, in University Futsal Championship (organized by the Independent Education Workers' Free Trade Union) BSU team won 1st place, inFootball Tournament (dedicated to BSU’s 100th anniversary, organized by NAP Yasamal District Organization) BSU team placed 3rd, in Yasamal District Chess Tournament BSU students secured 2nd place, in National University Chess Championship BSU team placed 3rd, in Chess Tournament for Teachers (dedicated to BSU’s 100th anniversary) – BSU team secured 3rd place, in Overall Team Championship (across 4 sports, dedicated to BSU’s 100th anniversary) BSU team won the 1st place.

The center continues to foster students' interest in sports, organize regular competitions, and encourage participation in the national physical education and sports movement.
