The Cultural and Creativity Center of Baku State University (BSU) was established in 2020 based on the university’s former self-activity club. Its main mission is to organize cultural events, competitions, and festivals, provide opportunities for staff and students to showcase and develop their creativity, ensure the efficient use of students' leisure time, and instill patriotism among youth. The center also promotes national and universal values, supports multiculturalism, and integrates students into the cultural policies of Azerbaijan.
The center regularly organizes large-scale events, including literary-artistic evenings, competitions, exhibitions, and conferences, actively participating in social projects at the university. It also ensures the active participation of BSU staff and students in national cultural initiatives and artistic programs, while identifying and supporting talented students in their personal and creative development.
The center operates various student clubs, including instrumental and dance ensembles (for both male and female students), choir group, painting club, drama club.
BSU students actively participate in national competitions and festivals under the center’s guidance. In 2020, at the 13th Republican Student Creativity Festival ("Tələbə Baharı" – “Student’s Spring”), BSU’s Geology Faculty student Kanan Mammadli won the pop music category.
In 2021, at the 14th Republican Student Creativity Festival, BSU’s dance ensemble won 1st place in the national dance category, while Firudin Yusifov (International Relations & Economics Faculty) and Pusta Shukyurova (Social Sciences & Psychology Faculty) won 1st place in the national dance (duet) category. Sabina Jafarova (Applied Mathematics & Cybernetics Faculty) secured 3rd place in the composer song performance category.
The center collaborates with BSU TV, producing various music and video compositions, like, “Stay at Home”, “Savior”, “National Leader”, “Homeland March”, “Independence”, “Let the Children Never Cry”, “The Smile of a Child – Hymn of Joy”, “BSU Teachers”, “Uzeyir Hajibeyli: The Peak of Our National Culture”, “Azerbaijan”, projects related to the Patriotic War and the liberation of Azerbaijani territories, such as “Shusha awaits us”, “Khari Bulbul”, “We Have Reunited with Khudafarin”, as well as the “Every place is Karabakh, everyone is Karabakh” video project.
The center continues to support students’ creative talents, foster cultural engagement, and contribute to the preservation and promotion of Azerbaijani cultural heritage.
