One of the results of modern globalization processes is the inevitable integration of higher education institutions into the global education environment. The deepening of international cooperation in education and the activities of international institutes and centers are key trends of today. In this regard, one of the priority tasks facing Baku State University (BSU) is the internationalization of the university, expanding the scope of activities of international chairs, institutes, and centers, and establishing new centers and chairs in accordance with current demands.
Thus, the establishment of international partnerships, student exchanges, the opening of centers at partner universities abroad, and the creation of new international chairs, institutes, and centers according to the demands of the times are regularly pursued as part of BSU's development strategy. This process directly impacts the quality of education, creates conditions for increasing the university's competitiveness and efficiency, and also contributes to the development of cultural dialogue.
Currently, BSU hosts 2 international chairs: the ICESCO Chair and the UNESCO Chair; 2 international institutes: the Confucius Institute (China) and the Baku King Sejong Institute (Korea); and 3 international centers: the Abai Center, the Azerbaijan-Korea Information Technology Center, and the Russian Center.
