BSU Rector Held Talks with Leadership of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas

As part of the “Kazakhstan – Territory of Academic Knowledge” Strategic Partners Forum held in Astana, Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU), met with Gulzada Shakulikova, Chairperson of the Board and Rector of Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas.
During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding cooperation between the two universities in education and research, as well as implementing joint innovation projects. They explored prospects for collaboration in areas such as oil and gas engineering, ecology, regional socioeconomic development, digital transformation, and educational technologies.
The sides also agreed to implement joint doctoral program management, prepare co-authored research articles, deliver joint presentations at international scientific conferences, and expand student and faculty exchange programs.
Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized that BSU aims to develop its partnership with Atyrau University of Oil and Gas through concrete projects, noting that this cooperation will help strengthen ties not only between the two universities but also between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
In turn, Gulzada Shakulikova highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation with BSU, describing it as strategically significant for the western region of Kazakhstan. She underscored the value of establishing joint research groups on energy security, exploring alternative energy sources, applying green technologies, and addressing environmental challenges in the Caspian Sea basin.
She also noted that organizing joint summer and winter schools, as well as internship programs for young scientists and students, would contribute to the region’s scientific potential and become an important aspect of Kazakh–Azerbaijani cooperation.
