Applications Open for the Joint Double Degree Program of Baku State University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Baku State University (BSU), in partnership with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), announces the opening of applications for the international Double Degree Master's Program in Plant Biotechnology, offered within the Biotechnology specialization.
The program provides students with a unique opportunity to study in an international academic and cutting-edge research environment, expand their professional knowledge, and gain valuable practical experience. Graduates who successfully complete the program will receive master's degrees from both Baku State University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
One of the key advantages of the program is that participants' tuition and accommodation expenses are fully funded by the Government of Azerbaijan. The program is financed in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 673, dated 22 July 2025, "On Additional Measures to Enhance the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan."
Applications are open to candidates holding a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Biology, Biology Teaching, Biology and Hygiene, Biotechnology, Plant Protection, Ecology, Pharmacy, Physics, Physics Teaching, Chemistry, Chemistry Teaching, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture, or Medical Biology, who have been admitted to a master's program at a higher education institution in Azerbaijan in 2026.
One of the main admission requirements is a minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 80. Applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting either an IELTS certificate with a minimum overall score of 6.0 or a TOEFL iBT score of at least 89. Candidates who obtain and submit one of these certificates by December 2026 are also eligible to apply.
Please note that admission to the Double Degree Program for the 2026/2027 academic year is available only to applicants admitted to a master's program through the entrance examinations administered by the State Examination Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
