MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND ETHNOGRAPHY

The Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography was established in 1976 and showcases material cultural artifacts from all stages of Azerbaijan’s historical development.

The museum consists of two sections:

  1. Archaeology Section – This section houses rare stone tools discovered in Azykh Cave, a rich osteological (bone) collection, agricultural tools, ancient clay artifacts, and other significant findings. Additionally, it features exhibits from the Kur-Araz, Khojaly-Gadabay, and Talysh-Mugan cultures, as well as artifacts from Caucasian Albania, the ancient period, and the Middle Ages.
  2. Ethnography Section – This section presents material cultural artifacts reflecting Azerbaijan’s traditional lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. It includes items related to household and agricultural life, customs and traditions, as well as arts and crafts. Special stands highlight the development of Azerbaijani archaeology and ethnography.

The museum’s exhibits are widely used in the teaching process at the Faculty of History, helping students deepen their knowledge in archaeology and ethnography.
