Today is the memorial day of Rafiga Aliyeva, full member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANSA), Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist.
Outstanding scientist, academician Rafiga Alirza gizi Aliyeva lives in the memory of those who knew her as a true Azerbaijani woman, a devotee of science and a person with a humanistic heart, her bright memory is always remembered with respect.
Rafiga Aliyeva was born on September 20, 1932 in the city of Nakhchivan. He received his higher education at the Faculty of Chemistry of Baku State University in 1951-1956. Rafiga Aliyeva, who started her career at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute in 1956, worked as a junior researcher at BSU from 1957, and at the Institute of Chemical Problems of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences in 1958-1960. From 1960 to 1963, Rafiga Aliyeva, who studied at the graduate school of the Faculty of Chemistry of BSU, worked in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University from 1964 until the end of her life, where she held the positions of assistant, head teacher, associate professor, and professor. Since 2001, he headed the "Ecological chemistry and environmental protection" scientific research laboratory.
Rafiga Aliyeva defended her candidate's theses in 1970 and doctor's theses in 1999 and was awarded the title of professor in the same year. In 2007, he was elected a corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and in 2014, a full member. He remains the first and only academician majoring in analytical chemistry in the history of science of Azerbaijan. The outstanding academician passed away on May 6, 2017.
Rafiga Aliyeva, who dedicated her life to chemistry, spent all her knowledge and skills on training highly qualified personnel in this field. The researches of the scientist engaged in pedagogical activity for more than half a century are devoted to determining the dependence between the parameters characterizing analytical reactions and the structure of complex compounds. A number of researches of Ms. Rafiga, which are directly related to environmental protection, are also focused on the development of the method of determination of metals and their separation with the help of organic reagents. His works related to the current problems of ecology contributed to the sustainable development of our country.
Rafiga Aliyeva, the author of more than 450 scientific works, 25 textbooks and teaching aids, 20 patents, was a member of a number of scientific councils and societies. Under the guidance of the scientist, more than 20 doctors of philosophy and sciences have been trained.
Academician Rafiga Aliyeva's scientific-pedagogical activity was duly evaluated by the state of Azerbaijan. By the order of the President of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the title of "Honored Scientist" and awarded with the Order of "Fame". Rafiga Aliyeva, the laureate of the award named after Academician Y. Mammadaliyev, was elected a full member of the New York Academy of Sciences, "Man of the Year 2001" and "Business Woman of 2001" by the American Bibliographic Institute. In 2018, the editorial board of "Azerbaijanim" International Magazine established the "Golden Order named after Academician Rafiga Aliyeva".
His textbooks on ecology and general ecology were awarded the Hasan Aliyev prize of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The dear memory of Rafiga Aliyeva, an outstanding scientist, a sensitive person, a caring mother, will always live in our hearts, and the young generation will continue the scientific direction created by her.
