BSU and Huawei Sign Memorandum of Cooperation
A delegation led by the Rector of Baku State University (BSU) is on an official visit to China at the invitation of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. The visit also includes representatives from several Azerbaijani universities.
Discussions during the visit focused on cooperation in high technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation in higher education. The delegation visited the Huawei Corporate Business Exhibition Hall and the 5G and Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Hall, where they were introduced to the company’s cutting-edge technologies. Presentations highlighted Huawei’s latest advancements in artificial intelligence, 5G and 5G-A, cloud technologies, smart city solutions, and the application of these technologies in education and scientific research.
At a meeting attended by David Wang, Huawei Vice President of Corporate Communications, and Angela Lin, Vice President for the Middle East and Central Asia, the sides discussed applications of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Education, explored prospects for cooperation, and exchanged views on joint projects in technology, education, and science.
The talks identified opportunities for partnerships with higher education institutions, including student training and internship programs, joint projects, and steps to establish innovation laboratories.
As part of the visit, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between BSU and Huawei. The agreement envisions training and internship programs for students and researchers, joint research in artificial intelligence and information and communications technology, the expansion of educational and laboratory resources in smart technologies and 5G infrastructure, the creation of joint innovation centers, and support for the startup ecosystem.
The delegation is also scheduled to hold meetings at Huawei’s Research and Development Campus, Dongguan University of Technology, and the Global Cybersecurity Transparency Center.
