Baku State University Launches a Master's Specialization in Geography of the Turkic World

Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the Faculty of Geography at Baku State University (BSU) will, for the first time, admit students to a new master's degree specialization in Geography of the Turkic World.
The Geography of the Turkic World is a promising academic field that explores the historical and geographical development, socio-economic progress, physical geographical characteristics, cultural heritage, integration processes, and geopolitical significance of Turkic states and peoples. The expansion of cooperation among Turkic states, the implementation of joint scientific and cultural projects, and the growing role of the Turkic world in international relations have created an increasing demand for highly qualified specialists in this field.
Within the new specialization, master's students will acquire comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in historical and geographical development, natural resource potential, socio-economic geography, regional cooperation, cultural heritage, and the integration processes of Turkic states and peoples. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing competencies in conducting research on the Turkic world, preparing analytical reports, participating in international projects, and presenting research findings both orally and in writing in Azerbaijani and other Turkic languages.
Graduates of the specialization will be qualified to pursue careers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions in Turkic states, international organizations, research centers, higher education institutions, public and private organizations operating in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage preservation, non-governmental organizations, and other institutions implementing projects related to the Turkic world.
